Violet D’Souza

Dr. Violet D’Souza is a research associate at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. She has a PhD in Dental Science from McGill University, a Masters in Restorative Dentistry from the University of Helsinki, Finland, and a Masters in Dental Public Health from the University of Iowa, USA. Additionally, Dr. D’Souza completed two postdoc assignments, one at the BC Cancer Agency-Victoria and the other at the University of Montreal, Canada. Her research standing in the area of multimedia-based patient information and survivorship care research is evidenced by her publications in high-impact peer-review journals in these areas. Dr. D’Souza’s most recent work concerns the oral health of individuals with chronic illnesses, especially nursing home residents, individuals experiencing cognitive decline, and those receiving palliative/hospice care. Dr. D’Souza also worked on dental care coordination at the county public health offices in Iowa to increase access to dental care services, especially for those with publicly funded insurance plans.
